Subsidized Properties

NCHA maintains the waiting lists for three other subsidized housing buildings that are privately owned and operated. Applicants would have to be determined eligible by NCHA guidelines before being submitted to the landlords for final approval of tenancy.

These buildings all have PROJECT BASED rental assistance which means if the tenant moves out of the buildings they would not be guaranteed further assistance. These buildings are all 1 bedroom apartments for either 55 and older or 62 and older or disabled of any age.

Applicants complete a pre application for the actual development where they want to live and be placed on a waiting list. When the families name reaches the top of the waiting list the housing authority will verify all gross income, assets, deductions, and a criminal history to determine eligibility. The landlords of the property would then complete a credit check, landlord references and housekeeping check. It is the family responsibility to keep NCHA updated on their address, income and family members in writing.

Once the family has been found income eligible they will be offered the next available unit according to the bedroom size requirements of the family. If the unit is refused, the family will either be moved to the bottom of the list or removed from the list, by the applicant’s choice or in accordance with NCHA’s Occupancy policy.

The current income limits (based on gross annual income) are as follows:

Family SizeVery Low IncomeExtremely Low Income

* Income limits are subject to change without notification.
* Income limits may vary by program, please call or email NCHA with any questions you may have.

NCHA has preferences for selecting applicants from the waiting list. They include: persons displaced by government action, veterans, and people living, working or attending school in NCHA jurisdiction which excludes the cities of Easton and Bethlehem.
